How to add Hotkeys to the new AMS
Drag the button below to your browser's bookmarks bar to enable hotkeys.
AMS Hotkeys
How to install
- Make sure your bookmarks/favourites bar is visible.
In most browsers, press Ctrl+Shift+B (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+B (Mac) to toggle it.
- Drag the AMS Hotkeys button above to your bookmarks bar.
- Click the bookmark when you open an AMS tab to activate the tools.
- The activated tools will only work on the tab in which they are enabled, if a new AMS tab is opened, the bookmark will need to be clicked in that tab.
- Each time the bookmark is clicked it will open a hotkey reminder, this can be closed or dragged to an area of the page that suits the user. If moved and closed, it will save its last location.
Tip: Use keyboard shortcuts when the add-on is active:
F3: Apply & Go Back
F4: Prompt
F5: Relationships
F6: Apply & Clear
F7: Go Back
F9: More Detail
How AMS Hotkeys Work
The AMS Hotkeys creates custom keyboard shortcuts and interaction helpers directly into the new version of AMS.
Here’s a summary of what it does:
- Tracks which input field or editable area you are working with.
- When you press one of the defined function keys (
F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F9), specific UI actions are carried out inside AMS:
- It finds the related buttons or menu icons in the interface by their visible labels.
- It programmatically dispatches mouse events to simulate clicking those buttons or menu items.
- The hotkeys automate manual clicks to speed up workflows like "Apply & Go Back", "Prompt", or "More Detail".
- It also adds helpful title attributes to buttons, so hovering over them shows the associated shortcut key (If one is available).
In summary: The add-on bridges keyboard input with AMS's UI by detecting your active field, finding relevant controls, and firing synthetic mouse events—saving you from clicking around manually.
