Mod Dimensions Support

Guide to Adding Mod Support in dimensions.properties

Learn how to add support for modded dimensions in your dimensions.properties file.

Overview

To add support for modded dimensions, you need to edit the dimensions.properties file where you define which dimensions should be included in your world groups.

Structure of Entries

An entry in the dimensions.properties file follows a specific format:

# Example entry
dimension.world0 = minecraft:overworld twilightforest:twilight_forest aether:aether

How to Find a Mod Dimension ID

To add a new dimension, you need to know its dimension ID. Here's how to find it:

Locate Mod File

Open your .minecraft/mods folder and locate the mod's .jar file

Extract Contents

Open the .jar file with WinRAR, 7-Zip, or a similar tool

Find Dimension Data

In newer versions (Minecraft 1.16+), dimension definitions are usually found under: data/<modid>/dimension/

# Dimension ID format
<modid>:<dimension_name>

# Example
example_mod:example_dimension

Example: Adding a New Mod Dimension

Let's say you installed Example Mod and discovered its dimension ID is example_mod:example_dimension. You can now insert it into your dimensions.properties file:

Option 1: Add to Main World Group

# Add to existing world group
dimension.world0 = minecraft:overworld twilightforest:twilight_forest aether:aether example_mod:example_dimension

Option 2: Define in Separate World Group

# Create new world group
dimension.world1 = example_mod:example_dimension

Key Points to Remember

✅ Summary

Adding mod support for dimensions is straightforward once you know the dimension IDs. Simply edit your dimensions.properties file and add the modded dimension IDs to your desired world groups. Remember to separate multiple dimensions with spaces and always backup your configuration files before making changes.
