🏫 1978–1986: Padfield Primary School

Attended Padfield County Primary School in Glossop, SK13. This was the foundation of my education where I developed early literacy and numeracy skills.

🏫 1986–1993: Glossopdale Community College

Studied at Talbot Road campus, achieving GCSE passes in Maths, English, Physics, and Geography, as well as a BTEC First in Business Studies with German. This formed a strong base in analytical and communication skills.

🎖️ 1992–2002: British Army – Combat Medical Technician

Served proudly with the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (1992–1995), then transferred to 207 Field Hospital (RAMC). Trained and operated as a Combat Medical Technician, including battlefield first aid, casualty management, and military field hospital operation. Instructed fieldcraft and infantry survival techniques for officer conversion training.

💼 1993–2004: Self-Employed – IT Repair & Networking

Grew a successful IT business to a ÂŁ200,000 p.a. turnover, specialising in tailored system builds, IT repair, and network installations. Clients included Tameside Council, educational bodies, and businesses such as Rael-Brook and Sweetons Ltd. Gained experience in Windows 2000, YP-based RJ45 networking, malware removal, digital forensics, and system optimisation. Sold business stake upon relocating to North Wales in 2004.

🍻 2004–Present: J.D. Wetherspoon – Pub Management

Initially joined temporarily while seeking IT roles in North Wales, but stayed due to enjoyment and progression. Roles have included Bar Associate, Supervisor, Cross-Trained Shift Leader (Bar & Kitchen), and Covering Shift Manager. Managed operations, staffing, cash, sales, stock, and compliance. Worked across several sites in North Wales and maintained high standards (e.g. food hygiene, CAMRA awards).

🎓 2012–2017: Open University – BSc (Hons) Computing and IT

Completed a 6-year part-time BSc Honours degree in Computing and IT while working full-time. Modules included Digital Life, Using Mathematics, Cisco Networking, Communication & IT, e-Business, Software Engineering, UX Design, and a final Computing & IT Project.

📚 2015–Present: Volunteer Maths Coach – St. Joseph’s Primary

Volunteering at St Joseph’s RC Primary in Colwyn Bay, teaching Years 4–6 Key Stage 1 and 2 Mathematics. Enhanced DBS certified. Provides support to staff and helps pupils by offering a new perspective on learning.
