Take a look here! Someone was kind enough to use an image from my site, create a new account,
and make it so that it's impossible to get it deleted!

This means I'm finally popular! Now I can at last die in peace!
Even if I die, I can be replaced. ...I'm of course joking.
Without my noticing, it seems like someone made an X account for my site.
The spelling of "Hubbardian" has been arbitrarily changed, and for some reason they made the "ENTER" button the header.
For the profile photo, they neatly cropped the face from my banner image.
I contacted X support about this, risking my privacy by submitting a photo of my ID to do so,
but it seems like there's no way for me to report them because they haven't tweeted anything,
so I have no choice but to just accept the existence of this mysterious account.
However, if they do tweet something I'll be able to report them,
so me and HubardTerminal_ are locked in a stalemate, holding each other in check.
It's unlikely that my site will get any more popular or expand activities in the future,
so unfortunately for them there's really no way for them to extort money from me.
My original contents don't have that much branding power,
but it seems like sites can be targeted regardless of how popular or unpopular they are.
Everyone else please watch out too! /

Today, I'd like to talk about how Abaranger almost brought about the end of Super Sentai. It was the 27th Sentai series,
broadcast in 2003, when toy sales were still generally strong, generating a respectable 13 billion yen.

In that case, why did it become known as the problem season that almost ended Super Sentai?
The season's main writer also wrote Kamen Rider Kuuga, and keeping with the same style of that show,
he included lots of elements that parents didn't want their kids seeing at 7:30 AM.

Scenes from AbareBlack's past included suggestions (though not direct depictions) of nudity, sexual activity, and even tentacle play (!).
In addition, the special ranger AbareKiller is an extremely outlaw character, who, rather than working with the Abarangers, actively attacks them,
showing no respect for their sense of justice and toying with them.

His extreme personality led to complaints from parents all over the country and worsened Sentai's relationship with TV Asahi,
with virtually all of the sponsors halting ads during the program,
with some quitting the sponsorship entirely, truly threatening the end of Super Sentai's history...
It seems like Toei worked hard to find new sponsors after that, with the yakiniku chain Gyukaku being a famous example.

The cast of the next season, Dekaranger, appeared in its commercials,
tie-up menu items and giveaways were introduced, and there's even a scene where Ban visits Red Lobster,
which was managed by the same corporation as Gyukaku in Japan.

Thank you, Gyukaku! Thanks to you, we fans can still enjoy Super Sentai over 20 years later!
Dekaranger really did their job...
However, I think it's important for there to be someone who, like AbareKiller,
casts doubt on those who blindly believe in justice and goodness without considering reality.
He may be easy to criticize, but what about his opposite, those who ignore the world's problems while assuming that they're right? To me that's more problematic.
I think the adults who criticized the show maybe should have watched it a little more closely.

Do you know the Super Sentai urban legend, "OhGreen is dead"? This urban legend is the first thing that comes up if you Google オーグリーン, and it's the first autosuggestion as well.
He's not a particularly memorable character, so it's probably the only reason he's brought up these days.( ;
Spoiler alert: OhGreen doesn't die in the show, and there is no such scene. However, many who saw the show as kids say they remember seeing OhGreen die...
There are some other characters who die in the show, but in those cases it's made clear. OhGreen is alive and well in every episode, so why this rumor?
As you can imagine, this is an example of the Mandela Effect.
If you're thinking "that's it?", I was similarly disappointed. The truth, however, is actually more unsettling.
This collective delusion is actually connected to Aum Shinrikyo, the cult group that terrorized Japan in 1995.

Around that time, one member of the cult was murdered on live TV.

The outfit he was wearing at the time strongly resembles the U.A.O.H. uniform, the kanji in that person's name are similar to those of OhGreen's actor's,
and they both share the same ojisan look, so the two were combined in kids' memories.
So the truth behind the urban legend is actually pretty scary!!
But the show actually did change its tone because of this series of events.
The photo on the left here is the cult member, and on the right is OhGreen.
Even their poses are similar... or is that just me? It was really a crazy era. I'll say it one more time. OhGreen is alive!
Please make good use of this legend in the 30th anniversary; I'm looking forward to it! /
