Historical Background
Albert Hofmann, a Swiss chemist born in 1906, synthesized LSD-25 in 1938 while studying ergot fungi at Sandoz. On April 16, 1943, he accidentally ingested LSD and later deliberately took 250 micrograms, becoming the first person to experience its psychedelic effects.
